Kasim Abas Painting in Visual Art & Designs Directory
I have traveled extensively to the USA, Europe, South East Asia and Middle East for the last few years. Each trip brought about the yearning, homesickness and urge to return home soonest to capture the characteristics, rich cultures and architecture style of my country, Malaysia, in watercolors, acrylic, pen and ink. Every painting has a love story to tell; my love for my country, fellow citizens and their cultures could be seen and felt in my paintings. For example, the paintings of the Sarawak themes were painted when I traveled to East Malaysia Borneo and lived with the natives. The paintings of The Malay Artifacts Series were done after living for some time with my adopted brother in Terengganu, East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. I think that it is important to save and record these artifacts in their authentic forms before they are lost with time.
