Monique is an Artist now living in New Zealand. As a child I lived through the aftermath of the war in Germany, in which time I was brought up very strictly. My Mother is French and my Father was German. As a child I always loved drawing and sketching and I adored the old Masters work. Later when I was 19 years old I migrated from Germany to Australia where I went to Art School. Not having enough money to live made me decide to go from door to door to get jobs in painting childrens portraits. I also started copying the paintings of the old masters. I was fascinated by the incredible detail in those paintings. Once I completed these artworks, I would then give the paintings away to my friends as Christmas presents. I also started to develop my own style of painting and took them to the Art gallerys to sell for me and I got severely ripped off. After that experience I decided to become a Commercial Artist and opened my own business for 14 years until one day when I walked into a Tattoo Studio. I was absolutely fascinated by the way that guy brought his art to skin. It was a long and hard road for me to become one of the worlds best Tattoo artist, especially being one of the first women to break into the tattoo scene and work in a mans domain. It was a stressful and very busy lifestyle and now that I am living in New Zealand the most beautiful place in the world to relax, I finally get to do what I really missed over the years, to go back to my oil paintings. And why famous horses? Well I always loved horses and my dream was, that one day I would like to own one of my own and since I had never painted horses before it was another challenge. Now I will make some exhibitions and sell my paintings. I love doing it, and I still love the amazing paintings of the old masters.
