Rain Kiernan creates sculpture in marble, bronze, stainless and alternative media, including fiberglass and cement. Her abstracts include both largescale outdoor works, and smaller interior sculpture. Rains forms are both freeform and derivative, but are characterized by her unique style which features powerful but sensuous curves, relieved by supporting planes. The artist works both in her Connecticut studio and Pietrasanta, Italy, has won several awards of merit for sculpture, and is represented in various U.S. galleries. Rain, who has been showing her work professionally since 1990, works with architects, designers, and art consultants to create work for public parks, commercial property and private residences. Artist Statement; My vision: conveying the struggle inherent in the human quest for an independent spirit. While some of the works are freeform and speak to such themes as unity and collaboration; others are abstractions of the female form and emphasize a continuing focus on courage and discipline.
